Kali was nearly vibrating with rage as she stalked beside Deucalion, confused by his silence even if she knew he wasn't one to show his hand or his feelings even to her. She could feel the chasm growing between them since Ennis's death and his realization that the Darach was her emissary. The one she had refused to kill.

That and his strange obsession with the McCall kid. The very one he let leave when he got a call from a friend and she sincerely doubted he was coming back despite whatever he said.

"Why did you let him go?" She finally demanded, stopping to look at him. "You had him finally..."

She felt it then. The presence of another, the sensation of power washing over them though it was strange and cold. Unfamiliar.

"Someone else is here...." She started to growl but then she felt the stirring of wind around her seconds before she felt arms clasping around her in an impossible hold, one hand curling under her chin to tip her head back and the other digging into her side while locking her arms against her. In just seconds she had gone from standing there to being trapped.

Her eyes flashed red as she managed a growl finally but the arms tightened, feeling like cold iron wrapping around her to the point that she was sure her bones were going to start breaking if just the tiniest bit of pressure was added.

"Now now, stay very still and I won't have to kill you." The silky voice stunned her as it was clearly female. She was being held by another woman. An impossibly strong one.

Rebekah smirked at the Alpha bitch in her arms then. "Good girl." Turning her attention to the man standing across from then, her smirk grew as she held Kali against her front.

"Deucalion, I take it?"

Deucalion tried to sort that out, but there was a sinking feeling in his stomach that whatever Kali had missed when she took the girl was far larger than they realized.

"She's not a beta of our kind, is she?" The gold eyes had been why Kali supposed it. "She's one like your brother's father's family. Perhaps...of his bloodline?" That was about all he could figure, though how they'd trace that, even, after all this time.

"Ah, see? You are clever!" Rebekah sounded pleased with that as she crossed her send over her chest. "You're almost right there though. She is a werewolf but not like you. She's from an older and pure bloodline. Not that there is anything wrong with your kind though. Nik would say otherwise but he's a snob." She shrugged a little.

"So I guess the question now is: how attached to your pack are you?"

Deucalion processed that, and could have cursed. Temper flared and the wind picked up, shaking the trees as thunder rolled across the sky. Stupid, foolish children, impulsively taking the girl. He'd known, thought it not a tactic they needed, but Kali had wanted to prove something, so he hadn't forbidden it.

But still--his power came, in part, from theirs. Lose them, lose power.

"They're my pack." He clutched his cane. "What can we do to make this right? We didn't know of her connection to your family."

Rebekah arched a brow at the sky, at the roll of thunder, as it blew the blonde strands around her features. She understood the anger, the sense of hopeless frustration and the attempt to bargain. She had seen plenty of times from countless others who had realized they were about to be wiped out at the hands of her family.

"You won't be able to save her." She shook her head. "She made the wrong move and she hurt the girl. Elijah won't forgive that and he'll make an example of her. If you tell her to run or try to run with her, he'll hint you all down and kill you just because."

"But if you can tell him and prove that you didn't tell her to do it, you might be able to save yourself and the other two you have left. It'll go even better if you hand her over willingly. Elijah isn't unreasonable but he is immovable on these things."

Deucalion was just trying to figure out, still, why the girl was so incredibly important, but he did understand that she was, now.

"What is she to serve as an example of? If she didn't know she was transgressing, how will anyone else know what she died for?"

He didn't want to lose Kali, but he didn't want to lose the rest of his pack or his own life, either. Kali could, in theory, be replaced.

"Elijah will make everyone aware of it. Hayley is off-limits and he is willing to kill to keep her safe. So is Nik." A pause. "And so am I."

Maybe she hadn't agreed to going to New Orleans but she would agree that family was important which meant the baby was important as well as Hayley.

"She must be very special," Deucalion murmured, his brain still working through it, trying to find his own advantage in it.

[itconsumesher]

"She is." Rebekah confirmed with a nod of her head.

She was silent again, moving around him once more, nearing where Kali was still lying motionless on the ground. She was quiet and still but alive. After a moment, Rebekah looked back at him again. "Any idea what you're going to do?"

"I think it's something I need to consider," Deucalion said slowly. But, then, he never did anything rashly. He liked being ten moves ahead in the game, and this had blindsided him.

"Understandable." Rebekah nodded her head. "I'm staying at a hotel downtown if you would like some more advice on what to do next."

[the_demonwolf]

"Clearly the first thing I need to do is talk to my pack," he said dryly. "But I appreciate the offer."

[itconsumesher]

"You might able to convince Elijah to spare the twins." She stressed again but then decided to let it drop with a nod. "As you wish though."

She started to turn away as it seemed the conversation was done. She had warned him.

"Even though they went with Kali?" He was still trying to sort through the ramifications of this.

[itconsumesher]

"It's a reach but if they didn't hurt her? If it was because they had to?" She looked back at him with a little shrug. "It's hard to say but Elijah might spare them. Maybe."

She paused with another hum. "He might if I asked."

Real choice is so difficult to know about within their pack. Especially for the boys. But he nods a little.

"And what would it take for you to ask him?"

[itconsumesher]

"That's a good question." She murmured and he most likely could hear the smirk in her tone. "I suppose that's something we'll have to figure out, won't we?"

He could hear the smirk, yes and found himself arching an eyebrow at it. "Not even a clue? Seems a bit unfair..."

[itconsumesher]

"I've given you plenty of clues already." She replied with a bit of a shrug before narrowing her eyes at him. "Maybe it's time for you to figure it out yourself."

He arched an eyebrow at the tone, but bit back a harder response. "Perhaps you're right."

"Did you have something else in mind?" She could practically hear it in his response.

Deucalion shrugged a bit. 'You did say come find you if I wanted more information....why can't you give it now?"
